Steven Avalon is a corporate transactional lawyer with experience in private equity, venture capital, and corporate law. Steven has experience in mergers and acquisitions, corporate formation, cannabis law, federal lobbying, and regulatory law. He has worked with startups as well as firmly established entities including publicly traded companies.
Steven graduated from Florida State University with a degree in criminology. He went on to graduate from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law where he was a Dean’s List member and Justice of the Phi Alpha Delta International Law Fraternity for two years.
Steven began his career at a publicly traded private equity group based out of Toronto, Canada, specializing in mergers and acquisitions in the United States cannabis market, where he led the legal team in acquiring both publicly and privately held small to mid-market cap U.S. companies. He also acted as the company’s federal lobbyist, going to Congress often to lobby on behalf of cannabis industry and banking reform. Steven’s practice involves, but is not limited to, corporate structuring, general corporate governance, capital raises and M&A, and acting as a trusted advisor and outside in-house counsel to entities.
Steven serves as a Phi Alpha Delta International Law Fraternity District Assistant Justice and is a member of the Board of Directors for foster + fund, a nonprofit organization which provides grants to underrepresented small business owners.
